Mia DiLena, born in Toronto, received her Certificate of Completion in 2009 from The Ailey School (home of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre) in New York City. After graduating, Mia attended the 2009, 2010, and 2011 editions of Springboard Danse Montréal directed by Alexandra Wells (faculty of the Juilliard School) where she had the opportunity to work with many esteemed companies and choreographers. Prior to this, Mia received the Proficiency Award in dance from her High School, Etobicoke School of the Arts. She completed her Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) Advanced 1 Ballet Exam with Distinction as well as attending the distinguished National Ballet School of Canada summer intensive. At the age 17, she was awarded a scholarship for the Vancliffen Arts Foundation Exchange Program to study Ballet in Italy with Professor Alexander Bondarenko of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow.
Mia has danced in several Toronto based dance companies including Bridge to Artists (Vlad Novitski), Helix Dance Project (Linda Garneau), Conteur Dance Company (Eryn Waltman), and TOES FOR DANCE (David Norsworthy and Kristen Carcone). Some of Mia’s television and film credits include the role of Gracie Shinn in Disney’s The Music Man, and lead youth dancer in the Bravo! Fact film, From Time to Time directed by Moze Mossasnen and choreographed by Ginette Laurin. She has been featured in music videos including Heaven by Blake McGrath, and Time’s Up by Alessia. Mia has travelled throughout Canada teaching on the faculty of many workshops including FRESH Dance Intensive and On The Floor. She was also the assistant to Teddy Forance and the faculty at his intensive Generation IV Dance in Massachusetts for two editions.
Mia is thrilled to be a part of Bridge To Artists 9th production, The Village. It has been a pleasure to work with the artists around her and witness the growing artistry from the youth cast.
